The department reported 1,462 hospitalizations as of Sunday, the largest number since Feb. 3, when 1,541 people were hospitalized with the virus. The number has risen 233% in the past month.
More than 17% of the state’s intensive care unit beds are occupied by COVID patients.
The state reported 1,902 new cases of COVID-19, the highest number in a Monday report since Jan. 25, when 2,210 cases were reported. Marion County reported 325 new COVID-19 cases.
The state reported no new deaths from COVID on Sunday, but the cumulative total rose by 16 over the weekend, to 13,714. The seven-day moving average of new deaths was five, the health department said.
The state said more than 3 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Monday at 5 a.m. About 15,500 other Hoosiers had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccine but not the second dose.
