The department said no new COVID deaths were reported on Sunday, but the cumulative death toll rose from 18,959 in Friday’s report to 19,084 in Monday’s update, an increase of 125.
The official death toll does not include 712 probable deaths from COVID, according to the department numbers.
The health department on Monday said hospitalizations climbed to 3,399 on Friday, the highest mark since hitting 3,441 on Dec. 1, 2020. Hospitalizations dipped to 3,368 on Saturday before ticking back up to 3,382 on Sunday. The pandemic peak was 3,460, reached on Nov. 30, 2020.
COVID patients occupy 37% of Indiana’s intensive care unit beds. The state has 12.6% of its ICU beds available overall.
The department said 10,003 more people with positive tests for COVID were reported on Saturday and Sunday
More than 3.58 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Monday at 5 a.m. More than 1.4 million Hoosiers have gotten vaccine boosters.
The department said 59.6% of Indiana residents 12 and older are fully vaccinated.
