    1. This doesn’t start at school. This starts at home and teachers and schools become held accountable.

    2. That presumes lack of money is the problem. There ain’t enuff money or courage in the world to solve this problem but there is a ton of ways to make on off it… In fact it’s a growth industry.

  1. “The committee rejected an amendment by Sen. Andrea Hunley, an Indianapolis Democrat, to delay the implementation of the bill until the 2025-26 school year.”

This makes sense. We just received record investment into literacy. We should let the investments and implementation of “science of reading” play out another year. Senator Hunley was spot on. Additionally, she has been an educator for years. But, yes, let’s not listen to logic and practicality from an expert in education because she’s from another political party.

    1. I am willing to bet a lot of money that once our substantial investment “plays out” it will not amount to a hill of beans. Hey IBJ let’s all meet at the same bat channel, the same bat station and the same bat program next year and let’s review how a substantial investment “played out.” We can also run a greatest hits of how even more money is needed because the results aren’t good enuff.

  2. I wonder if IBJ has the ability to study 3rd grade reading proficiency and charter schools? Are charter schools helping to fix this problem, or just part of the problem.
