Everyone needs to read the IU School or Education professors editorial in the Indy Star. Studies have shown in states that aggressively push for school “choice” through vouchers, education levels fall significantly, like 10% across the board.
Law makers are ignoring experts at the peril of the well-being of Indiana Citizens.
On top of that, this whole program is an end run around state funded religious institutions.
The obvious “choice” should be for well funded public schools with requirements for specific performance standards.

I would agree that charter schools for the most part do not preform any better
than the public schools.
But the religious schools, especially Catholic and Catholic affiliated do preform
very well. They are also an opportunity for students to escape poor
preforming schools.
Public schools already are being held to academic standards. Many are
not meeting those standards although they are well funded.
A school system such as IPS has problems that tend to be disproportionate
to other systems. Such as Emotionally Handicapped, Learning Disabled, and
English as a second language students.
