  1. yes. Actually it goes further It says Health of the mother. SB1, with the house changes, does very little to restrict abortions, in Indiana, any more than they are restricted today.

    1. Except that it completely DOES restrict abortions. Currently, abortion is an option up to 22 weeks. SB1 would make them illegal at ANY stage with the exceptions cited above.

  2. Why are a bunch of middle aged white guys making a decision like this for us? Why aren’t the voters deciding this? Republican politicians from the more rural parts of this state wield entirely too much power.

    1. 1. Because they were elected to represent the prevailing values of their constituents, Matthew.

      2. Because that’s how our system of governance works. There are plenty of options elsewhere in the world if you believe there is a society more in alignment with your dead-end values, Matthew.

  3. Voters can still have a referendum in future elections . Vote R for tolerating Republican political restrictions on Women’s health care decisions. Vote D when you think political restrictions of Women’s health care decisions are not to be tolerated..

  4. Is this what you want me to believe: This thing residing in a woman’s womb, that has a different heart beat, its on set of fingers and toes and 50% of the time is a different sex, has no constitutional rights till it is born? Not “created” but BORN. Or is there a time certain 10 weeks? 22 weeks? till you can see it’s tiny head? before it has any rights of its own?

    1. For some on the left, an unborn residing in a womb taking the shape of a
baby is just an inconvenience that should be tossed aside. How sad that
the unborn are treated with such little compassion.
