  1. I doubt Young’s desire to fire public employees or take away their pensions if they are involved in rioting could be easily accomplished. How would courts determine what “involved” means, and how does that relate to freedom of assembly? Also , pensions are guaranteed by legal contracts and cannot be easily abrogated. As usual, Young’s proposals are not well thought out and risk serious unintended consequences.

  2. How will the Attorney General Rokita find time to appoint special prosecutors, he may be too busy doing his side job.
And couldn’t agree more with Bret. B characterization of “Young’s proposals are not well thought out….”

  3. Prosecutorial discretion is a bed rock of the powers of the prosecutor. Why, without it you might not be able to get prosecutors to drop cases against politically well connected donors, or against politicians themselves, or judges, who are found driving intoxicated, or groping women in a bar, or taking bribes.
Clearly, Senator Young, you’ve missed the boat, again. Cheap political shot at prosecutors who are trying to alleviate court dockets and jail crowding by not prosecuting misdemeanors in favor of focusing on felonies. Next will be a bit of legislation requiring police officers to arrest ALL individuals committing criminal offenses in their sight, and leaving no discretion to officers to enforce in a reasonable manner.
