Subscribe NowThe Indiana State Department of Health on Friday reported 1,079 new COVID-19 cases, the second-highest number of cases reported in a daily report since the beginning of the pandemic. That’s the sixth time in the last nine days that new cases have exceeded 1,000.
The department reported the testing of 10,925 new individuals, but cumulative testing of new individuals rose by only 8,519, which means 2,406 previous tests were removed from the total.
The 7-day testing-positivity rate remained at 7.6% on Thursday, but the state’s overall testing-positivity rate rose to 8.9%.
The state also reported eight new deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the total during the pandemic to 2,906.
Marion County reported an increase of 133 cases, the 29th straight day that cases in the county have risen by more than 100. The county’s 7-day testing-positivity rate was 8.5%.
