Indiana reports 1,499 new COVID-19 cases, 17 more deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health on Friday reported 1,499 new COVID-19 cases. The number is an all-time high for cases in the daily report from the health department, but it includes the addition of 462 older positive cases resulting from a corrected laboratory reporting error.

The correction also resulted in the addition of 1,628 tested individuals and 2,067 tests administered to Friday’s counts.

The department reported 17 new deaths from COVID-19, raising the cumulative total to 3,270.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
