The death count was the highest ever reported in the daily health department report, topping 143 reported on Dec. 22. The figure represented deaths reported to the state on Monday, but they occurred from Nov. 26 through Dec. 28.
Deaths have exceeded 25 in the report for 28 straight days.
The department said 8,155 new individuals had been tested, the third day in a row that fewer than 10,000 people had been tested after 61 straight days exceeding that number.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 increased for the third straight day, from 2,866 on Sunday to 2,951 on Monday. The high mark was 3,460 set on Nov. 30.
COVID-19 patients occupy 30.2% of the state’s intensive care beds.
The 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals remained at 23.5%.
