The department also reported 59 more deaths due to COVID-19.
The state said 10,118 new individuals have been tested, the smallest number in that category since Jan. 5, the seventh time in eight days that testing in that category has exceeded 10,000.
The latest numbers show 40,281 Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus and 219,885 have received their first dose of the vaccine.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell from 2,515 on Monday to 2,484 on Tuesday, the fifth straight day of decreases. The high mark was 3,460 set on Nov. 30.
COVID-19 patients occupy 25.7% of the state’s intensive care beds.
The 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals is 27.%.
In its weekly update of long-term-care facility COVID-19 counts, the department said there were 1,309 new cases and 254 more deaths among residents over the week ended Jan. 6, bringing resident totals during the pandemic to 21,651 cases and 4,524 deaths. There have been 14,162 cumulative staff cases and 17 staff deaths.
