Deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits for 108 straight days.
The department said 8,137 new individuals were tested Tuesday in Indiana.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dropped from 1,976 on Monday to 1,902 on Tuesday. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The state said more than 112,000 Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
In its weekly update of long-term-care facility COVID-19 counts, the department said there were 599 new cases and 137 more deaths among residents over the week ended Jan. 20, bringing resident totals during the pandemic to 23,007 cases and 4,832 deaths. There have been 14,964 cumulative staff cases and 19 staff deaths.
