The state reported 625 new cases on Saturday, 602 on Friday, 580 on Thursday, 346 on Wednesday, 500 on Tuesday, and 501 on Monday.
The department said Sunday that the cumulative death toll in the state rose to 1,607, up from 1,596 the previous day—an increase of 11. That’s the lowest number of new deaths contained in the daily update since April 20, when seven were reported.
Death and case numbers have regularly fallen in Sunday reports ever since the health department began issuing them in mid-May.
More than 91% of the total deaths involve those who are age 60 or older. Almost 75% of those who have died are older than 70. Men account for 51.3% of the deaths. Only 2.9% of the deaths have involved someone younger than 50.
The state said 584 deaths—or 36% of the state’s total—have involved long-term care facilities.
The state reported that 177,243 people have been tested so far, up from 171,358 in Saturday’s report—an increase of 5,885. New tests have exceeded 5,000 in six of the last eight daily reports.
The ISDH said the test numbers reflect only those tests reported to the department and the numbers should not be characterized as a comprehensive total.
Health officials say Indiana has far more coronavirus cases—possibly thousands more—than those indicated by the number of official tests. A study announced Wednesday estimated at least 186,000 Hoosiers have or had COVID-19 through the end of April.
New positive cases, deaths and tests have occurred over a range of dates but were reported to the department in the previous day.
The department reported the state’s first case on March 6 and first death from COVID-19 on March 16.
Marion County on Sunday reported 8,303 cumulative cases—up from 8,151 the previous day, an increase of 152 cases.
The county’s cumulative death toll rose to 477, up from 474 in Saturday’s report.
The state said 40,977 people have been tested in the county.
As for surrounding counties, Hamilton had 1,021 positive cases; Johnson 992; Hendricks 1,032; Boone 258; Hancock 291; Madison 543; Morgan 244; and Shelby 287.
Pike County has five cases, but every other Indiana county has at least seven.
The department said 38.3% of the state’s intensive care unit beds were still available. About 16.2% are being used by COVID-19 patients.
The department also said 80.1% of the state’s ventilators were available, with 6.7% being used for COVID-19 patients.
The health department is providing case updates daily at noon based on results received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.
As of Sunday morning, more than 1.47 million cases had been reported in the United States, with 88,836 deaths, according to a running tally maintained by health researchers at Johns Hopkins University & Medicine. More than 268,376 people have recovered.
More than 4.66 million cases have been reported globally, with 312,381 deaths. More than 1.71 million people have recovered.

The same as the question that’s been being asked the last couple of weeks; Who is going to take the blame when the gloom and doom spikes don’t happen and all the house arrest measures are and were proven a big scam and fear propaganda hoax to see how well the sheep will surrender their liberties and freedoms to militant socialism.
We can only hope and pray that there will be arrests, convictions, and prosecutions for sedition, terrorism, and treason for the guilty culprits including the MSM for their subversive attack in our Constitutional Republic!!!
