Indiana reports 819 more COVID-19 cases, 12 new deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health on Wednesday reported 819 new COVID-19 cases, a 65% jump from the 495 cases reported the previous day. New cases have been below 1,000 for 12 straight days.

The state also reported 12 new deaths due to COVID-19, lifting the cumulative total to 13,101.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 climbed from 814 on Monday to 850 on Tuesday. They are down from 1,019 on May 4. The all-time high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The health department reported the testing of 4,235 new individuals.

The state said 2.34 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. More than 2.53 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
