After rapidly dropping in January and February, daily case counts have risen slightly in March. The seven-day moving average of positive cases was 857 on Friday, up from 818 on March 1.
Indiana also reported the deaths of nine more people from COVID-19, raising the cumulative number to 12,605.
The department reported the testing of 16,060 new individuals but attributed 10,738 of those tests to a historical “data refresh.”
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 increased from 637 on Thursday to 646 on Friday. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The state said more than 1.06 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Saturday at 5 a.m. More than 1.58 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.
