The state also reported 26 new deaths due to the coronavirus, the lowest number reported since Feb. 1 . Reported deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits in 122 of the past 123 days.
The department said 8,990 new individuals were tested Wednesday.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dropped from 1,273 on Tuesday to 1,226 on Wednesday, the lowest number since Oct. 9. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The state said more than 279,900 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Thursday at 5 a.m. More than 759,900 had received the first dose of a vaccination.
