Indiana reports another 851 COVID-19 cases; deaths hit 2-week low

The Indiana State Department of Health on Sunday reported 851 new COVID-19 cases, the 12th time in the past 13 days that new cases have exceeded 800 in the daily report.

Indiana has averaged a daily increase of 927 cases over the past week compared with 914 cases the previous week.

The department on Sunday also reported two more deaths from COVID-19, the lowest daily number since Aug. 23.

The state reported the testing of 9,963 more individuals, the 11th time in the past 12 days that testing of unique individuals has exceeded 9,000.

The state’s cumulative testing-positivity rate for unique individuals remained at 8.8%. The seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals rose from at 7.2% to 7.3%.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.

  1. We’ve been mandatorily wearing masks for six weeks, but the only change in the data I can see is it flattened the increase in new cases some, but did not change any of the other metrics.
