Indiana reports another 88 deaths from COVID-19

The Indiana State Department of Health on Monday reported 3,191 new cases of COVID-19, the lowest number since Jan. 3.

The department also reported 88 more deaths due to COVID-19, the largest number since Jan. 5, bringing the cumulative total to 8,731 during the pandemic.

The state said 8,125 new individuals have been tested, the smallest number in that category since Jan. 5.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell from 2,537 on Sunday to 2,515 on Monday, the fifth straight day of decreases. The high mark was 3,460 set on Nov. 30.

COVID-19 patients occupy 25.9% of the state’s intensive care beds.

The 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals is 27.6%.
