Subscribe NowThe Indiana State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 933 new cases of COVID-19, the third day in a row that the daily case count has fallen below 1,000 after more than four months above that level.
The state also reported 20 new deaths due to the coronavirus. Reported deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits in 128 of the past 129 days.
The department said 4,679 new individuals were tested Tuesday despite a winter weather emergency thoughout most of the state.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell from 1,018 on Monday to 955 on Tuesday, the lowest total since Oct. 3. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The state said more than 356,200 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Wednesday at 5 a.m. More than 834,400 had received the first dose of a vaccination.
In its weekly update of long-term-care-facility COVID-19 counts, the department said there were 413 new cases and 104 more deaths among residents over the week ended Feb. 10, bringing resident totals during the pandemic to 24,171 cases and 5,212 deaths. There have been 15,734 cumulative staff cases and 21 staff deaths.
