The state’s cumulative death toll from COVID rose to 13,885 and the seven-day moving average of new deaths jumped to 14 per day, the health department said.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 rose from 1,857 on Sunday to 1,956 on Monday, hitting the largest number since Jan. 25, when 1,976 people were hospitalized with the virus. More than 23% of Indiana’s intensive care unit beds are occupied by COVID patients.
The department reported 3,641 new cases of COVID-19, the third highest daily number since mid-January.
More than 3 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday at 5 a.m. About 19,316 other Hoosiers had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccine but not the second dose.
