The daily report on April 4 also showed no new deaths, but the number was later updated to five. According to current data, the last time no COVID deaths were recorded was March 19, 2020. The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a pandemic on March 11, 2020. The state’s cumulative death tally currently stands at 13,136.
On Sunday, the state health department also reported 565 new COVID-19 cases, the 16th straight day with fewer than 1,000 cases.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dropped from 800 on Friday to 770 on Saturday. They are down from 1,019 on May 4. The all-time high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The health department reported the testing of 3,466 new individuals.
The state said 2.42 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. More than 2.59 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.
