Quote: The latest bill version endorsed by the Senate education committee two weeks ago stipulated that schools would be barred from teaching that one group is inherently superior or inferior to another, that one group should be treated adversely or preferentially, and that individuals, by virtue of their traits, “are inherently responsible” for the past actions of others who share their traits.
Perfect. So why wasn’t this passed and sent to Holcomb for his signature? That it was not is an embarrassment and a disappointment for those of us who seek unity, rather than division.
And this quote is baloney: Mark Russell, director of advocacy and family services at the Indianapolis Urban League, added that Black students are unfairly targeted by the bill, which he said seeks to “whitewash history” and prohibit educators from “teaching historic realities.”
What evidence is there that any group is “unfairly targeted?” Ridiculous.
Bob P. – None so blind as those that will not see.
‘Not sure if you are implying looking at me or looking in a mirror, Randy! It appears to me you are looking in a mirror if you cannot see the “obviousness” of my post. If you think Mark Russell’s whining has merit, cite for me where black students are “unfairly targeted” in the bill.
Indiana Republicans already control the curriculum of what gets taught in this state and have for a decade. They gassed the elected Superintendent of Public Education. The educational system we have in this state is exactly what Indiana Republicans want.
So, Bob, tell me what’s wrong with what is being taught in Indiana schools today. Explain to me how this bill, just like the transgendered sports bill that fixed a problem that literally never existed in Indiana, wasn’t just a sap to ensure our Republican legislators don’t get primary’d for not being extreme enough.
Like the Indiana state police superintendent said on a different bill, our state is making a mistake because we are letting out-of-state people influence what happens in the state.
