4 thoughts on “Indiana sees low voter turnout for primary elections

  1. Shameful! That means 75% of the people need to stop complaining about many of the issues that impact their daily lives. Indiana ranks second last in voter turnout. Maybe we can now be #1. Fat and stupid is no way to go through life!

    1. Oh Steve, what an asinine thing to believe.

Perhaps it means that Indiana has successfully made it very costly or difficult to vote for a large portion of its electorate while intentionally discouraging most people away from primary participation.
What kind of reason was there to vote in this “Historically Competitive Primary” where the Presidentially candidates were decided, the Governor candidates were either mushy on all policies or unopposed, and only a handful of Congressional districts even had close races?

  2. When we don’t like any of the choices offered in the primary, why vote? Clearly Indiana is – and has been for years – on a trajectory toward ever more extreme right-wing governance through a rigged system of candidate recruitment and party support, gerry-mandering, and weak campaign financing laws. Looks like many of us sit out the game as a result.

  3. Change the voting process to us to vote for people and not parties. If I want to vote for the best candidates, but they are on different aisles, it can’t be done. Also, why can’t I vote anywhere in my county? Its 2024, we can use technology to understand where I live and what ballot to provide me.
