About a month ago I was listening to the Carmel HS radio station. There were 2 or 3 young people on there talking about what, I understood, was what they had learned in their advanced English class that day: How in our society slavery then and now has only morphed into different forms of discrimination. ENGLISH CLASS?
It’s the modern Cultural Revolution Paul. Their basis for this “theory” is the same revisionist history that inspired the Confederate Lost Cause movement (an attempt to atone for, and legitimize, culturally collectivized humiliation), and the racial generalizations they draw are inspired by the “Struggle” of a certain mid-century Austrian painter.
We read stuff like Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and To Kill a Mockingbird in English class. Today they might use more modern novels to explore the same ideas.
These students are being indoctrinated with leftwing propaganda.
It’s intended to be devisive. It’s intened to portray certain groups as victims and others as oppressors.
People that have never been oppressed and people that have never been
oppressors.
If thy were talking about those topics after an English grammar class, I might be surprised. If they were talking about those topics after an English literature class, then there’s no surprise at all.
I guess you would have to had stay “woke” enough in your own English class to know that there might be a difference. I am using the definition of “woke” that means you stayed awake in your English, Science, and History classes. I guess that doesn’t always happen for some people.
Let these topics be decided by local control.
Not the state,
