This week, the technology consulting and analytics company announced the opening of a 10-person office in the West Gate Academy Conference and Training Center in Odon, near the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane.
The Odon site joins Resultant’s other offices in downtown Indianapolis; Fort Wayne; Atlanta, Georgia; Columbus, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; and Lansing, Michigan. The company has more than 400 employees around the U.S., about 250 of whom live in the Indianapolis area.
“You don’t see a lot of companies out there opening physical offices right now,” said Colin Stauffer, Resultant’s director of data and development. “We’re really, really excited to continue to enhance the support that we provide to Crane.”
Resultant began its work at Crane in the spring of 2019 with one small project, and the company’s involvement with the military center now involves four active projects in three areas: electronic warfare, strategic missions and expeditionary warfare.
“The partnership we have with Crane is really important to us,” said Resultant President John Roach. “This is just the next incremental step we’re taking in expanding that partnership.”
Stauffer said opening a physical office at Crane made sense for a couple of reasons. On a practical level, the nature of the work at Crane means it’s difficult for outsiders to visit the base. With its new office, Resultant now has an off-base site where its employees can meet with its Crane clients.
Also, because of the difficulty and complexity of the work Resultant does, Stauffer said, it’s important to build trust with clients—and it’s much easier to build that trust when meeting face-to-face.
“When there’s a high level of trust, you see people being more vulnerable or being willing to express ideas that might be more challenging,” Stauffer said.
The Odon office has room for 10 people, but most employees will be cycling through as needed rather than working at the location full-time. All told, between 30 and 40 Resultant employees are involved with projects at Crane. The Odon office is set up for what’s known as “hoteling,” where employees come and go at different times and don’t have an assigned work space.
Resultant, which operated as KSM Consulting until last year, was founded in 2008 under the umbrella of local accounting firm Katz Sapper & Miller. The consulting firm rebranded itself as Resultant in May, following the purchase of a majority stake in the company by global private equity firm Investcorp earlier that year.
