Indiana’s COVID death toll rises by 22

The Indiana State Department of Health on Thursday reported 22 more COVID-19 deaths in the state, raising the total to 16,301.

The seven-day moving average of deaths dipped from 16 to 15.

The department reported 2,065 more cases of COVID-19, up from 2,024 cases the previous day.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 decreased from 1,327 on Tuesday to to 1,312 on Wednesday. COVID patients occupy 16.2% of Indiana’s intensive care unit beds.

More than 3.37 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Thursday at 5 a.m. after a daily increase of more than 1,900. More than 445,000 Hoosiers have already gotten vaccine boosters.

The health department said 59.7% of Indiana residents 18 and older are now fully vaccinated.
