During the closures, workers will install new bridge deck overlays on each structure.
Only one bridge will be closed at a time, starting Sept. 8 with the Calvary Street bridge over southbound Interstate 65. After that, the Calvary Street bridge over northbound I-65 will close.
During the Calvary Street bridge closures, drivers will be directed to take Fletcher Avenue to Virginia Avenue as a detour.
In the final phase of the project, the Virginia Avenue bridge over southbound I-65 will be reduced to one lane, with a temporary signal installed to regulate bridge traffic. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail, whose path includes this bridge, will remain open.
Weather permitting, INDOT says it expects all the bridge work to be complete by mid-October.
