Well, all of the other Republican options are just terrible. Generally, gubernatorial elections in Indiana are much less of a clown show. Braun is taking his RNC money to bring the rat race to Indiana. Shameful.

IU Health’s operation is quickly deteriorating as evidence by alarming departures of key researchers, physicians, nurses and administrators. What was once a shining star for Indiana is quickly becoming a 2nd class hospital and medical provider with dismal performance. Murphy’s embarrassing entry into the election of our Governor is a desperate attempt to avoid the fact that IU Health has some of the highest hospital costs in the nation that puts us among the bottom of healthy citizens.
When you continue to carry this Not for Profit banner but yet making millions of dollars in profit each year plus have your C-Suite make millions of dollars a year in salaries/bonuses, etc. plus own real estate worth billions of dollars, isn’t it fair that the State government (or someone) monitors to make sure you still deserve the Not for Profit status? “ Murphy opens the missive about a “shared concern that our legislative leaders do not believe that we as hospital and health systems play a vital role in the health and well-being of our communities.” I think everyone agrees with Murphy that the hospital systems play a vital role – but they are very very well compensated for that role…very compensated!! If you don’t think your prices are substantially higher, then just take a look at a simple MRI and compare. Create a hospital policy where you will match the lowest price but that will never happen. Finally, don’t forget how much money hospitals profited during Covid while the rest of us were struggling big time.
Chambers and Murphy both reek of desperation.
This isn’t about the cost of IU Health’s services. Realistically, nobody is going to reign in IU Health’s costs without federal reform. IU Health knows that.
The subtext is that the populist Rs on the ballot are likely to ban/restrict procedures that they don’t understand.

From all the ads they are running on air, I thought the only issue any of the Republican candidates for governor was interested in is the southern U.S. border.
I thought IU health was a part and funded by the State of Indiana as part of our public college system. For the Exec to take part in partisan politics seems very inappropriate to me. Plus, if a not-for -profit, there used to be rules about contributions. Perhaps the state should pull any and all funds, and replace the CEO??
