In her column, “Small steps that build strong communities,” Lesley Weidenbener stated that her observation about communities resulted partially from her own personal experience living in the Garfield Park neighborhood for nearly 30 years [Aug. 9].
She cited the most recent example: the renovation of the Yoke Pavilion building in Garfield Park by the brothers Phil and Joel Kirk into various small businesses, including a restaurant, short-term rental apartments, an art gallery and retail spaces.
This column is a tribute to those folks in neighborhoods everywhere who are making our planet a better place to live.
