  1. Somehow every other minority and immigrant group smokes black students without equity officers, cultural competency training and so on. Perhaps the community needs to take a hard look in the mirror and consider what personal behaviors and habits other groups practice when it comes to their children and makes some changes.

  2. Equity officer? No thanks.

Equality of opportunity is great, but ensuring “equity” is a losing idea (much like communism… “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need”)

    It’s a slippery slope folks.

  3. Absolute garbage, racist content, IBJ. I knew it was Chalkbeat just from the headline. In the very near future, I am going to stop funding this garbage.

    1. Chuck W. logic: “It must be racist because it mentions Black people.” Go ahead and leave then! I sure won’t miss your idiotic comments.

    2. No, Riley, it’s garbage because the content makes excuses for bad performance by blaming skin color. And of course, the solution as always is a money hand out. It’s the definition of racism and it’s present in every Chalkbeat article that IBJ regurgitates

    1. Spot-on, Kevin and 21 R.

Suggestion: Investigate Jesse Lee Peterson’s organization Brotherhood of New Destiny (BOND):

      https://rebuildingtheman.com/

We have been supporting his mission for years with a recurring monthly donation charged to a credit card. He knows what’s going down in the black community and is doing his best to reverse it.
