Enough is enough! We love the tourneys the way they are, not too long and not too short.
Greed and self importance will just delute and destroy what is a seasonal enjoyment.
Leave it as is!
Create a different tournament all together! and leave it how it is for this one. Just crank it up on a whole different one!!! Make it fun and new! Dunk contest,high schoolers taking on college,3 point only games,dunk only games etc ..all in tournament form from three man teams,two man teams, just mix it up and have fun and make money while adding to the quality of life!! And do it in Indianapolis!!!
The tournament is fine; don’t change it!
At this point just take the whole NIT 32-team field too.
I’d wager we’re less than 3 years from an “unofficial” alternative tournament, probably funded by the Saudis.
Expand it to include every college in the U.S. that has a team. And structure it to have 50 State winners. Each State would have sectionals to determine their State champion. And after less than a week of sectional games you would be down to the final 50 winners to move on to the next step.
Then you could easily structure it from there and have a national champion within 3 weeks. I know getting down to 50 teams may seem overwhelming.
However, before Indiana class basketball, we went from 750 plus teams down to 64 sectional winners in less than a week and a State champ 3 weeks later. And the State with the largest number of colleges is California with only 436. So, there you have it.
Expand it and then permanently locate it somewhere else.
