New COVID-19 cases again exceed 6,000 in Indiana

The Indiana State Department of Health on Friday reported 6,199 new cases of COVID-19, the third day in a row that new cases have exceeded 6,000.

The department also reported 69 more deaths due to COVID-19. Deaths have exceeded 25 in the report for 37 straight days.

The state said 14,583 new individuals were tested, bringing the cumulative total to 2,724,389.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell from 2,812 on Wednesday to 2,769 on Thursday. The high mark was 3,460 set on Nov. 30.

COVID-19 patients occupy 27.2% of the state’s intensive care beds.

The 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals is 28.1%.
