The state also reported 44 new deaths due to the coronavirus. The department has reported 209 deaths from COVID-19 over the past seven days, an average of nearly 30 per day. That’s down from 411, or 58.7 deaths per day, the previous week.
Reported deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits in 130 of the past 131 days.
The department said 4,757 new individuals were tested Thursday.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dipped from 966 on Wednesday to 948 on Thursday, the lowest number since Oct. 2. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.
The state said more than 402,000 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Friday at 5 a.m. More than 866,000 had received the first dose of a vaccination.
