Northwind Pharmaceuticals LLC, located in the former St. Bernadette Catholic Church on the near-east side, plans to make the hires by the end of 2025, according to a contract it has signed with the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
The state is giving the company $5.5 million worth of incentives for the expansion, in the form of conditional tax credits. The company has 90 employees, according to IBJ research.
The expansion is being made to accommodate demand and facilitate growth, according to the state contract.
Phil Berry, CEO of Northwind Pharmaceuticals, could not be immediately reached for comment.
The private drug repackaging company was founded in 1981 as Pharmaceuticals Corporation of America. Berry bought the company in 2008.
In 2019, he moved it into the 27,000-square-foot former St. Bernadette Catholic Church. The building, located in the Christian Park neighborhood in Indianapolis, opened in 1952 and had been closed since 2014, when the archdiocese merged the congregation into Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
The expansion will occur at the same address, according to state documents. The company has committed to a minimum wage of $14.14 an hour. It did not list an average wage commitment.
According to its website, Northwind Pharmaceuticals also offers consulting services to help company manage their spending on pharmaceuticals. It collects and analyzes data and identifies “hidden opportunities to optimize Rx spend,” including identifying overpriced medications and uncaptured rebates.
Clients include Jasper Engines & Transmissions, Ascension Health Employer Solutions and Cisco Consulting Group.
