Actually, there is also a K-mart on Guam. Unlike its on-shore cousins, the store is clean, fully stocked and thriving, as it is the only big box store on the island.

Oddly enough, there are 3 on the island of St. Croix and 2 on St. Thomas (2 of the 3 US Virgin Islands). Similarly, it’s the only big box retail on the islands.
I worked on selling or leasing up old K-Marts in the early 2000’s. The largest fault in this sad tale lies with Eddie Lampert. In 2005, if the combined Sears and K-mart had operated only Sears stores, with all the great brands (Kenmore, Craftsmen, Die Hard, Joe Boxer, Jaclyn Smith, Martha Stewart, Lands End and more) the 2 entities controlled combined into 100,000 SF stores. They could have been rejuvenated and kept Kohl’s and Target from grabbing a big hunk of their sales.
Eddie Lampert was too focused on his many financial plays and totally neglected the retail business.
