The Wisconsin-based company said it will invest $6.75 million to establish a 150,000-square-foot repair and warehousing facility on Southtech Drive.
Milwaukee Tool said the operation, which is expected to launch in March 2021, will complement a similar facility in Greenwood, Mississippi.
“The Greenwood, Indiana, service hub will play a critical role to help improve our service response time for users,” Steve Richman, group president for Milwaukee Tool, said in a written statement.
The nearly 100-year-old company, which also has manufacturing and distribution facilities in Wisconsin and Mississippi, has been on a growth tear, with employment increasing from 1,000 to 5,000 over the last decade.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it has offered Milwaukee Tool up to $4.5 million in tax credits and $500,000 in training grants in return for its commitment to hire as many as 481 workers. The tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company can’t claim them until workers are hired.
The city of Greenwood is providing additional incentives.
