  1. People have to get over their fear of nuclear power. When run correctly it’s clean, efficient, and reliable…unlike solar, wind and many of the so-called renewables. If Europe hadn’t freaked about nuclear, they would not be beholden to the evil Russians for fuel today.

  2. If anyone can figure out how to build these on budget, it’s Purdue. Good luck to them! A world powered by safe modular nuclear could be rid of an immense amount of struggle, as the last few decades have brought us nothing but oil war after oil war.

  3. Bravo again MD. As always, several steps ahead of the pack.

Could we please get a comparison of the net carbon reduction that would result from this one idea. And can we get it in comparitive terms to the kinds inefficient ideas promoted as a religion by the Church of Sustainability and its zealots?

  4. Leave it to Mitch to push forward with the promising innovation that is taking place in the nuclear power field. Reliable is the key word here.

  5. The Demo demagogues at all levels of government will do everything imaginable to prevent this from succeeding. It would solve too many problems and their grip on their “constant crisis culture” would slip. They invest in train-wreck after train-wreck to stay in power and build their personal fortunes. Not that Republicans are any strangers to building personal fortunes. The root problem of many if not most of our cultural dilemmas is politicians, regardless of party affiliation. Power and greed gone wild!

    1. This comment is so over the place that it’s spooky. Who’s been in control of the Statehouse, with huge margins, for a long time now?

  6. Hopefully, the nuclear engineering team can solve a couple of big problems with this form of energy production: how to safely store spent fuel rods (or better yet, not have any leftover fuel rods) and how to avoid contamination of our water supply. There is a limited quantity of fresh water on the planet.. An economic problem is that they have a history of cost overruns. Maybe Mitch can help with that problem.

  7. Due diligence, as Mitch referenced by using the word “exploration,” hopefully will include understanding both the potential risk and the type/amount/source of insurance to cover Purdue’s liability. Is this aspect of such projects addressed by the state legislation? If so, what are the minimum requirements? If not, why not?

  8. This is off the charts AWESOME!!! Just like NASA needed pilots and engineers with “farmboy commonsense” to get to the Moon, Purdue can, and most likely, will be the first to get these small package plants standardized and dialed in so we can get some REAL GREEN energy going. Stop ruining open spaces with windmills and covering valuable farmland with solar panels..
