  1. Buying votes and teaching people that they do not need to honor the loan/debt/agreement they make, instead they should expect other Americans to pay their debts for them.

  2. We should determine what schools the students went to and correspondingly reduce future payments to those schools for tuition, etc. Simply put, the schools should pay for not ensuring their students are paying back loans. Right now, schools are asking taxpayers to give money to the schools, and then are telling the students not to pay. Federal government should stop funding the schools in the first place. The schools will find a way to sell their education–probably for way cheaper than they do now, once you get rid of the government involvement.

    1. Patrick – why is it the school’s fault? The schools are not asking for students to have loans forgiven, the students are. If you get a mortgage, do you ask your Realtor to pay the mortgage for you when you can’t find a good enough job to afford it? The people who took the loans should pay them back as agreed when they took the loans.

    2. I would guess 40% of student loans are illegal as the person who signed for them was under the age of 18.

People act like these are mature educated adults making these decisions.

Its immature 17 year olds who have no idea what they’re signing up for.

  3. JJ – that is why parent’s have to be included for juveniles. Young men below 18 were enlisting during WW2. And for their lack of maturity that you noted, their current maturity is a reflection of the coddling of society, and paying off their debts for them will only further that coddling.
