We conservatives need to go to the Commie’s “Town Halls” and do the same!! this is a joke…..She should have had several biker guys there to ward off the sissies
Agree! It’s clear that the minority Democrats in this district mobilized so that they could cause a scene and give the appearance that everybody in the district is frustrated with Republican policies on the federal level.
Or maybe this administration and their agenda is a dangerous joke and they’re being called out on it. Btw, anybody who says they need a “biker guy” to defend themselves reveals who the sissies really are.
Commies and sissies? Grow up.
You mean to ward off her constituents? If Spartz can’t take the heat, she needs to get out of the kitchen by stepping down from her elected office.
It is her *job* to listen to complaints from the people she represents.
Are you telling me that you’re such a big baby that you need big scary biker men to save you from angry constituents yelling at you? People had to prove they lived in the District before they were allowed to attend. It’s not the Democrats’ fault that Republicans either didn’t show up or are just as angry at Spartz as Democrats are.
As always it’s useful to imagine the roles reversed. If this happened at a Saint Andre event, IBJ employees and their fellow Democrats would be rioting I. The streets screaming RACISM!!
nope.
So why hasn’t this happened? All of these hypotheticals from Conservatives while they hide…
Good Point Chuck…btw, IBJ, where’s the reporting on who paid these “protestors”? No mention that the hall was loaded with Dems who came there to heckle??? Come on, IBJ, who are you the NYT???? This article is a joke!!!!
Now citizens must be paid in order to care about society?
Maybe they don’t like a Russian shill who quit. Then decided to not quit. Then voted against her districts best interests?
Hatred of stupidity and someone only in it for the money is something that both sides can come together on!
Cannot wait for Chuck W and John S to lose their Social Security.
What?? trump, Musk and DOGE are going to take my Social Security???Are they going to run Granny off of the Cliff? Auntie Em, Autine Em!!!! you leftists are NUTS!!! Go to doge.gov and rationally argue against the cuts…go on…tell me why funding queer art in Ecuador is necessary spending….I still can’t believe that 48% of American are dumb enough to swallow your crap!
John – almost every single cut on DOGE.com has been shown to be wrong. they are literally changing it daily – nothing stays the same day to day. Makes you think it is all made up…
Yes, let’s cut funds to starving children in America, and underfunded public education. big win!
Or, just cut 5% of the defense budget and we solved the national debt crisis
Or you could … gasp … stop cutting government revenue. The same people who claim they want America “like how it was” don’t seem to want the marginal tax rates their parents gladly paid, nor the high wages that enabled their parents to have one person stay at home parents, nor the government funding of education (ex. GI Bill) that enabled many of their parents to attend college affordability and set their own kids up for success.
Baby boomers, the “pull the ladder up after themselves and claim they did it all in their own” generation. And they claim the kids these days are selfish and entitled.
I do believe these people showing up to be belligerent are mostly people that voted for Harris anyway but I also think the current administration is squandering the opportunity to succeed with some of their decisions on the tariff approach and international relations with allies.
Succeed for whom? If you looked at their platform it had no chance at doing anything for 99% of Americans, and it was actively going to make things worse. All it has to offer them is the LOLz of watching an immigrant or transgendered person cry.
A weird alliance of business interests wanting to roll America back to 1928 to get rid of Social Security and Medicare because they’re “socialist”, social conservatives wanting to go back perhaps a decade earlier and have the government enforce their weird religious beliefs, and don’t forget, the Russian inspired and/or linked folks who recognize none of it will stick if you don’t make sure people are unable to change their elected representatives… because they will be outraged, and if you leave them the ability to vote, they might undo it.
I don’t understand why anyone else didn’t see what was plainly obvious. I mean, they wrote it all down well before the election. Everything since FDR is a mistake to these folks. They want to prove government can’t work for you, and they intend on doing it by nominating idiots across the board.
History will not be kind to the folks who didn’t see the big picture, and it will eviscerate those who schemed to take down America for their own selfish interests.
Why don’t you all stop screaming at each other and try to look at rationally at what Spartz actually said. According to the article she said:
“There is no due process if you come here illegally because you violated the law, period,” she said. “You violated the law, you are not entitled to due process.”
IF YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO DUE PROCESS-IN OTHER WORDS IF YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO A HEARING-HOW DO YOU KNOW THE PERSON CAME HERE ILLEGALLY OR NOT? WHO DECIDES THAT THEY VIOLATED. THE LAW IF THE PERSON IS NOT ENTITLED TO A HEARING. WHAT IF A MISTAKE WAS MADE WHEN SOMEONE IS PICKED UP AND THEY ARE ACTUALLY HERE LEGALLY? CERTAINLY YOU WOULD AGREE THAT THEY ARE ENTITLED TO A HEARING TO DETERMINE IF THEY ARE HERE PROPERLY OR NOT. THAT IS DUE PROCESS.
Not entitled to due process when accused of violating the Laws ? Does she apply that rule to all Laws in her Eastern European trained mind ?
The US Constitution disagrees with Spartz.
If we applied the warped reasoning of Spartz, then *no one* accused of a crime would be entitled to due process. “You broke the law, so you aren’t entitled to due process,” and every accused person would be summarily found guilty without a trial.
Spartz wasn’t elected to represent only those who voted for her. Every constituent has a right to attend her town halls, and to voice their opposition to her positions and those of the president. Not everyone supports the maga agenda. Not everyone thinks what Trump and Musk are doing is even legal. That’s why as of today 151 lawsuits have been filed against the Trump Administration. The rule of law and our democracy are at risk.
I’ve never seen so much cope in the IBJ comment section before. Some of y’all are funny.
All these comments that disrupting this event was orchestrated by the Democrats is just wishful thinking. The Indiana Democrat Party’s organization skills these past several years needed to carry off such a plan, is non-existent.This was real people on both sides showing their displeasure with chainsaw/incompetent approach to governing.
Yeah, Nancy, it was we Conservative Republicans who just returned Spartz to Congress a few months ago!! Pay attention….Republican Town Halls have been targeted by leftist nut-jobs all over the country.
Actually, John, you have been fed unsupported misinformation that Republican town halls have been targeted by leftist nut jobs, paid by someone to be there. Just like you have been fed misinformation that the purpose of DOGE is simply reducing government expenses, and the misinformation that Venezuelans with tattoos in honor of their autistic siblings are somehow a threat to American security, and the misinformation that Haitians eat cats and dogs in Ohio, and the misinformation that tariffs don’t cause inflation, and the misinformation that women’s sports are being overrun by transgender athletes, and the misinformation that attack plans outlining specific times and tactics and weapons systems and targets have no need to be classified. Here is a hint… if you hear something in the right-wing media or from a conservative politician, the information is likely not credible.
John, Spartz filtered everyone who came in that room to just her constituents. If she was doing such a bang up job, why did none of the over 200,000 people who voted for her show up to cheer her on?
John S., each of your comments makes it abundantly clear who the nut job is, LOL. By the time Trump and his administration full of hacks is finished wreaking their havoc, America will more closely resemble North Korea than any vision our forefathers had for this country when they laid the foundations of our democracy. I know MANY people who voted for Trump who now have serious buyers remorse. The midterm elections can’t come fast enough. A reckoning is in store.
Those of you who lament the shouting and disrespect afforded to Representative Spartz have to be done only by democrats must live under a spell. There are republicans angry with what is happening and the threats to freedom posed by the current administration. Also, apparently you have forgotten the town hall meetings in 2016 concerning the passage of the Affordable Care Act, or were those all democrats as well interrupting the meetings and shouting down the presentors?
These so-called “conservatives” have to lie to themselves about what is happening before their eyes because confronting the monstrous and despicable worldview they’ve allowed themselves to be shepherded into by people who don’t care about them would result in their insanity.
Facts: There weren’t 100 outside. The event drew 1,500-2,000 people who lined up, but were told the event was full at 500. I suspect that many drove past, couldn’t find a parking spot and left. Protestors were assigned out on the street. Some people honked in praise, a few showed the crowd the bird.
I counted 1 MAGA hat. None of those that arrived were anything but local, peaceful citizens – nobody bussed in as the (R) narrative would have you believe. All great citizens in the 5th district that wanted to give our elected officials some views on their world today. The rest of the reporting speaks for itself.
The booing wasn’t to disrupt the meeting; it was because Spartz was talking around questions rather than answering them. The pinnacle was when she told us we are too dumb to understand what she and Congress do (that was about an hour into the town hall).
No due process, then throw felon Trump in jail for his many crimes.
Spartz talked about the country going bankrupt if we don’t cut expenses. Then why did she vote for a budget adding $3 trillion to the deficit.
Increase revenue by taxing the billionaires, eliminating tax loopholes and auditing the wealthy tax cheats.
The House’s 1st bill when they controlled the house in 2022 was to repeal the IRS bill. That increases the deficit by over $100 billion
Cut expenses by not paying Musk $8 million per day. Trump has cost the government over $26mm going to Mar A Lago to play golf 18 times. Plus all the millions to send Trump to the Super Bowl and Daytona 500.
Has the White House and Congress cut their staffs to save money?
By cutting staff and offices at the VA, SS, Medicare, etc they’re effectively cutting benefits as it will be harder to obtain these benefits.
I’m all for cutting waste, but be transparent about it and taking a wrecking ball to the government is bad policy.
Well, let’s organize some good “Democrats” to go scream at Andre Carson for supporting the illegal importation of terrorists, sex and drug traffickers and the continued theft of our Social Security by “150 year olds”…One last comment before I leave this aggregation of solons….if everybody hates Trump, why is he sitting at 50% approval?
Go ahead and point us to some legitimate data supporting these claims about “democrats importing terrorists” and 150 yr olds receiving SS benefits. We’ll wait. In the meantime, here’s some real data regarding Herr Trump’s approval rating:
https://www.natesilver.net/p/trump-approval-ratings-nate-silver-bulletin
Sitting at <48% approval and trending downward.
Eventually, you'll catch up to the majority of the country and wake up. You've been had. You fell for it. Again and again and again and again
If you look at several of the recent polls, his approval rating averages about 47%, so he is sitting at *below* 50% general approval. But, I give you a shred of credit for at least acknowledging Trump has no strong mandate for the policies he, or I should say his billionaire oligarch handlers, are trying to implement.
Also, when you zoom in on specific policies, his approval ratings become much grimmer, even among those who generally support him. For example, 60% of those polled disapprove of Trump’s tariff policy.
And, while you lack supporting facts, you feel free to spout off recycled nonsense from X about “terrorists,” and Social Security “theft”. And, like all of the nonsense you read on X, it is mostly made up. The “150-year olds” collecting Social Security was proven to be a *complete* lie based on Musk’s DODGE crackpot tech team not understanding the old software code used to run the Social Security Administration’s computer system. Maybe, if he hired adults instead of 19-year old children who use play names like “Big Balls,” he would get competent programmers who know what they are doing.
CURRENT EVENTS
Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
Monday, March 31, 2025
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-eight percent (48%) disapprove.
The latest figures include 36% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 40% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -4. (see trends)
Those are horrible figures. And the only reason they’re as high as they are is because people hate Musk so much they aren’t even focused on Trump. He’s just a puppet president.
If Rasmussen of all polls has a R pres at only 50%, you know the true number is much lower.
John S is a bot, incapable of understanding the prompt. Bot – you were asked to prove “democrats importing terrorists” and “150 yr olds receiving SS benefits” – but instead your fried logic pulled out a hard-R-biased poll that doesn’t even prove whatever point you had!
Rasmussen is not a serious polling organization.
“There is no due process if you come here illegally because you violated the law, period,” she said. “You violated the law, you are not entitled to due process.”
This is pure Fascism, and Spartz must resign immediately.
Wait…someone was paying people to show up? My wife and son apparently missed the payroll person. I didn’t attend (someone has to watch the grandson) but as related to me, there were more than 100 waiting outside.
And yes, we live in the 5th District…we not outside agitators. We are moderate to liberal Democrats… We don’t know any 150 year old persons receiving SS benefits…and neither do Trusk, Mumps, or their MAGAts and MUSKrats. Last big voter fraud that I know of was the NC 9th Congressional a few years back, where even the NC Republicans wouldn’t validate the election because they knew the Republican voter fraud was so wide-spread. They re-ran the election.
Got an issue with Andre Carson…voice it in public. If he has a Town Hall, attend. I’m not in his District any longer, but if allowed I might show up and ask him why he’s not being more forceful…He needs to do his job too.
“We don’t know any 150-year-old persons receiving SS benefits…” Well, if you don’t know any then they can’t exist. The logic of a child.
but less so than the sophomoric retort…
How many 150 year old people live in the US? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone? That’s right…there are NO 150 YEAR OLD PEOPLE KNOWN TO BE LIVING IN THE US.
Or in the world, for that matter…
and yes, Dominic M., I actually knew that before I put it in my posting…that was the whole point…the lies of the Trusks and Mumps and their MAGAts and MUSKrats upon which Trusk’s entire campaign and administration are built.
Dominic can’t point to one verified SS payment sent to a “150 year old” that shouldn’t have been because there are no verified examples of it happening. It’s all a pretense to take the benefits that we’ve all paid into our entire lives away in the name of tax cuts for the rich.
Michael N. do you have access to SS files? Neither do I, and yet you expect me to point to one. Such a specious argument to protect those committing fraud. Perhaps you and your ilks can explain why they are still on the books??? BTW, you do know if you had put what you contributed to SS into Index funds, you would be getting over 10x what SS pays per month.
So, you can’t verify any waste, fraud, or abuse being cut by DOGE, especially not as it relates to their dubious and easily disproven claims about dead Americans still receiving SS benefits. Got it. Thanks.
The lie of 150-year olds getting Social Security has been thoroughly debunked. Social Security software programs were written in the old COBOL programming language that the teenage goofballs Musk is employing on his DOGE team do not understand since it predates their parents.
With COBOL, all dates must be coded to a reference point, and generally May 20, 1875 is used (the date of the international standard setting conference held in Paris). So, if a person has a missing or incomplete birthdate listed (perhaps because of an input error, etc), they are assigned a birthdate of May 20, 1875. Social Security employees know this is not their real birthdate, and these names are flagged for further review, and the system will automatically reject sending anyone a check if their birthdate is set to May 20, 1875. So, no 150-year olds either exist or receive checks
But, the teenagers on DOGE who go by play names liked “Big Balls” (these are the types of childish fools rifling through out government) do not understand how the computer system works, so they thought May 20, 1875 was a real birthdate for individuals listed in the Social Security database.
The only things being cut are critical services like Meals on Wheels. But MAGAt’s can’t confront that reality. Conservatives are pro- elders going hungry these days I guess
Democrat protesters = Rent – a – Mob
MAGAts = Delusional nazi’s
Children paid to throw tantrums.
Congresswoman Spartz remarked in a direct quote from her Town Hall meeting-“There is no due process if you come here illegally because you violated the law, period,” she said. “You violated the law, you are not entitled to due process.”
Once an immigrant herself, perhaps Congresswoman Spartz should be better informed on the U.S. Constitution and its 14th Ammendment before making such false statements.
The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1868, addresses citizenship, equal protection, and due process.
Due Process Clause:
“nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law”.
Equal Protection Clause:
“nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws”
Too bad someone in the audience did not hold her feet to the fire on this one!
Ah yes. Throwing a tantrum about their congressional representative not understanding or else not supporting the value of due process. Such an annoyance.
if our Representatives and Senators, and members of the Executive branch, don’t understand the Constitution, what is left of our country? It’s anarchy time.
By the way, Spartz would have been required to study and test on the Constitution before becoming a US Citizen.
Oh, and if you read up a bit above that which is quoted, you find the part about people being born in this country being citizens thereof…another little part of the 14th Amendment, the Amendment that re-shaped and redefined the relationship of the federal government to the states, which the MAGAts and MUSKrats and their ilk would like us all to forget…
and, again, this was not a rent-a-mob…we don’t need to be paid to show up to protest…we do it for fun and recreation. And hopefully to protect our country…
OK, Timothy….maybe I can find some “Democrats” to interrupt and yell at Congressman Carson for being a shill for Hamas..or, how about this….fighting the elimination of fraudulent spending which, oddly enough, finds it’s way back to Democrat coffers in the form of “voluntary donations”? It’s odd having leftists reference the Constitution…specifically the 14th Amendment which the Democrat Party, at the time, fought and voted against! So, Timothy, many diplomats here in the US have children born here in a hospital in the US…not on the embassy grounds which, technically, is foreign territory….are they citizens of the US??? As a Scholar of the Constitution, I presume your answer is “yes” and you would be wrong!!!! And, yes, I’m sure there were unpaid, stupid, naive and foolish people content with $36,000,000,000,000 in debt, who made fools of themselves at Spartz’ meeting. I am sure you want the spending to continue as you fools think money is just printed!! And btw, Timothy, my wife and I are on SS and we don’t fear for our benefits unless Elon fails at cutting out the fraud and waste.
Actually, John S. I knew the children of diplomats born in this country are not US citizens. Because being diplomats, the parents are not subject to the jurisdiction of the US (diplomatic immunity and all that stuff). The difference between those children and the children of illegal immigrants is those illegal immigrants are subject to the jurisdiction of the US government, and so the children are legal citizens of the US. Those illegal immigrant parents can be taxed, arrested, fined, imprisoned, and we’re now finding out, deported without due process.
While the debt load of the US is of concern, is not of concern in the way that it would be for a private citizen or a corporate entity. Because, in fact, the US in particular can and does print money. And people buy US Treasury bonds and fund that debt.
And oh, John S., as long as we’re trading barbs…when was the last time the federal budget was balanced? Was it a Republican or Democrat? Anyone? Anyone…
