these two universities have over $3.5B in endowment apiece. why would they need to have a dime of state money to do anything. in fact, if free tuition ever comes close to fruition, then let’s use this money first.
Both of these universities should be self-funded by tuition and the endowments mentioned above. Another example of maintaining a budget equal to your income. There are way too many hands out looking for taxpayer money that should be working withing their means.
We have declining enrollment so we are going to spend $120 million on new buildings. Meanwhile, we have millions in unfunded pension liabilities and crumbling infrastructure statewide.
So, Indianapolis got gypped out of years of gas tax revenue due to the State’s “error” but has to come up with a match just to get what it should have gotten all along? Sounds about right.
