State reports 1,764 more COVID-19 cases, 55 deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health on Sunday reported 1,764 new cases of COVID-19.

The state also reported 55 new deaths due to the coronavirus. Reported deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits in 118 of the past 119 days.

The department said 8,459 new individuals were tested Thursday.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell from 1,399 on Friday to 1,287 on Saturday, the lowest number since Oct. 11. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 216,000 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as Saturday at 5 a.m. More than 694,000 had received the first dose of a vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

Cumulative positivity rate unique individuals: 21.3%

Seven-day positivity rate unique individuals: 15.1%**

Cumulative positivity rate all tests: 10.4%

Seven-day positivity rate all tests: 6.8%**

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

First dose administered: 694,945 (daily increase of 13,062)

Fully vaccinated: 216,389 (daily increase of 10,679)

Boone County cumulative cases: 5,836

Indiana intensive care unit usage

Available ICU beds: 34.4%

ICU beds in use by COVID-19 patients: 13.3%

Available ventilators: 78.8%

Ventilators in use for COVID-19: 5.5%

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
