Reported cases have been on the rise for three straight days after dropping significantly over the Christmas holiday weekend.
Deaths have exceeded 25 in the report for 28 straight days.
The department said 8,155 new individuals had been tested, the fourth day in a row that fewer than 10,000 people had been tested after 61 straight days exceeding that number.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dropped slightly after three days of increases, from 2,951 on Monday to 2,941 on Tuesday. The high mark was 3,460 set on Nov. 30.
COVID-19 patients occupy 30.7% of the state’s intensive care beds.
The 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals is 23.3%.
