Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 continue to fall rapidly in Indiana, dropping to their lowest mark since Nov. 18.

The Indiana State Department of Health on Tuesday said 1,600 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Indiana as of Monday. Hospitalizations have plummeted 55% since hitting a pandemic high of 3,519 on Jan. 13. COVID patients occupy 17% of Indiana’s intensive care unit beds. The state has 21.4% of its ICU beds available overall.

The department reported 64 new deaths from COVID, raising the cumulative total to 21,399.

Also on Tuesday, the state reported 1,469 new COVID-19 cases, for a pandemic total of 1,669,872.

More than 3.67 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday at 5 a.m. More than 1.69 million Hoosiers have gotten vaccine boosters.

The department said 60.5% of Indiana residents 12 and older and 62.5% of residents 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.
