Una Osili’s identification of the problems of re-entry are nearly spot on [One way to solve re-entry is to offer a prize for ideas, Forefront, July 26].

At RecycleForce we agree with you that new and innovative ideas need to be tried. Yes, we need a moonshot. But can we also suggest that as these innovative approaches are tried and scaled, they are also studied with the most rigorous research? We think nothing short of a random control trial should be used. Such trials are the gold standard in research, and this type of research MUST, in our opinion, be a part in proving whether the new ideas work or not.

Sen. Todd Young was instrumental in helping pass important legislation, what is known as the Social Impact Partnership to Pay for Results Act, or SIPPRA. Yes a mouthful, but SIPPRA has a lot of potential as it requires rigorous research to prove if these new and innovative ideas are working or not.
