    1. Simplistic take on a complicated problem. Pay the workers more so they can afford to get an education not just have a second or third job to get by.

    2. You’re assuming there are other jobs for them to take as well… but it’s pretty hard to get re-educated when you’ve still got to make ends meet. I don’t envy anyone in that situation.

This would all be fine, I suppose, if those companies paid at least that amount in federal income taxes, but I suspect they don’t.

There’s lots of ways this could go, but I personally think we should start with what policies are needed to boost the middle class. Feels like wage increases and decreasing the cost of health care would help here.

    1. Good one, Chuck! Of course Wal-Mart and McDonald’s might have more workers on anything; they have more workers, period!

  1. How many jobs has Bernie created? Most fast food jobs are not meant to raise and support a person much less raise a family. These are entry level jobs meant for high school kids or seniors looking for extra money.

  2. Well Rhea, assuming Team Biden / Harris / Soros succeed in stealing this election through targeted voter fraud in specific precincts, Bernie will have helped create jobs for two of the most unemployable persons on earth insofar as the private sector is concerned: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

  3. Indiana gained more jobs than it lost over a 10-year period stretching from 2007 to 2017, but most of those jobs were low paying, according to a statewide analysis of economic data led by the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership.

The analysis, performed in conjunction with the Brookings Institute Metropolitan Policy Program and the American Enterprise Institute, indicates that Indiana added more than 181,000 new low-paying jobs during that time while losing nearly 104,000 middle-wage jobs.

Researchers said the loss of middle-wage jobs reduced Hoosiers chances of securing a “good job,” one that pays a family-sustaining wage and offers employer-sponsored health insurance.

Those jobs can range from at least $17 to $20 per hour, depending on regional costs of living, the partnership said. Only 40% of Indiana workers had “good jobs” during a five-year period from 2013 to 2018.
