Fairgrounds Fun Park was expected to feature more than 50 thrill and family rides and 40 different food vendors. Farmland, Indiana-based North American Midway Entertainment, or NAME, announced plans for the carnival June 30.
“Following the recent elevation of COVID-19 cases in Indiana and with guidance from state public health officials, the planned Fairgrounds Fun Park has been canceled,” organizers said in a written statement. “The event … included a thorough plan for sanitation and social distancing, but is being canceled out of an abundance of caution.”
NAME said those who already bought tickets online will be refunded in the next eight to 10 days.
“While we are saddened that our event cannot take place, we understand the current situation and will always put public health and safety as our No. 1 priority,” said NAME CEO Danny Huston said in a statement.
