The third annual Indy Classic will feature the men’s basketball programs of Purdue University playing Texas A&M University and Butler University taking on the University of Wisconsin at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Dec. 14, the Indiana Sports Corp. announced Thursday.

“Welcoming four renowned basketball programs to Indianapolis is a testament to our commitment to growing the Indy Classic into a premier basketball event,” said Indiana Sports Corp President Patrick Talty in written remarks. “The 2024 Indy Classic will showcase top-tier collegiate basketball, offering fans an unforgettable experience in the nation’s most celebrated basketball state.”

Purdue has played Texas A&M only five times since since 1941. Their last meeting was in the 2010 NCAA Tournament second round, which Purdue won 63-61.

Butler and Wisconsin have previously met 31 times, but not since the 2011 Sweet Sixteen, when the Bulldogs beat the Badgers 61-54.

The Indy Classic is an annual fundraiser for Indiana Sports Corp’s not-for-profit efforts. It will be hosted by the Indiana Sports Corp, Pacers Sports & Entertainment, and Russ Potts Productions Inc.

Last year’s sold-out Indy Classic featured games pitting Ball State against Indiana State and Purdue against Arizona. The games were streamed live on Peacock.

The first Indy Classic, in 2022, featured Ball State vs. Illinois State and Purdue vs. Davidson.

The Indy Classic replaced the Crossroads Classic, which was played from 2011-2021 and featured games involving Purdue, Indiana University, Notre Dame and Butler.

Tickets for the Indy Classic will go on sale Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.com.

Game times and TV information will be announced at a later date.
