In 1956—the same year it switched its affiliation to CBS—WISH became the first TV station to install a videotape machine. And in 1963, the station went live with its coverage of the State Fairgrounds Coliseum explosion, which WISH says was the first news event of its kind to be broadcast live in Indianapolis.
