Lauren Casey

Morning news anchor Lauren Casey has left WRTV-TV Channel 6 after 11 years at the Indianapolis station. Her last day at the ABC affiliate was Wednesday.

Casey, who hosted WRTV’s “Good Morning Indiana” show, began working at WRTV as an intern in 2013 and took a full-time job later that year as a traffic reporter and multimedia specialist while completing her senior year at Franklin College. She was promoted to the weekday morning anchor job in 2017.

A Center Grove High School graduate who grew up in Indianapolis, Casey said in a Facebook post that she was joining Pence Media Group starting next week “to dive into the world of public relations, marketing and video production.”

Indianapolis-based Pence Media Group is owned by Nicole Pence Becker—a niece of former Vice President and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence—who worked as a newscaster at WTHR-TV Channel 13, WXIN-TV Channel 59 and WTTV-TV Channel 4 between 2012 and 2017 before starting her business.

“I’m giving up one dream to chase after another,” Casey wrote on Facebook. “I’m so excited to share what I’ll be doing next, as it includes more storytelling in this community, but also more sleep and time at home with my family.”

Kaitlyn Kendall, a Franklin Central High School graduate who joined WRTV in November 2021 after three years at WPTA-TV Channel 21 in Fort Wayne, will now host Good Morning Indiana, the station said.
