The manufacturer, which specializes in building and assembling mobile conveyors and hydraulic systems, does business as GCI Slingers. The company said it will spend nearly $7.5 million over the next few years to add 10,000 square feet to its existing 20,000-square-foot facility at 5005 W. 106th St. in the Boone County suburb.
The new space will house a paint booth and additional equipment, allowing the company to increase production and assembly of its slingers. Construction is slated to begin in late 2019 and be completed by 2022.
GCI Slingers currently has 25 workers. It plans to begin hiring heavy equipment operators, drivers, handlers, fabricators, welders, shop technicians and mechanics.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $275,000 in conditional tax credits based on the job-creation plans.
GCI Slingers was founded in Hamilton County in 1988. It has two other divisions in Zionsville—GCI Transport and GCI Coatings.
