Republican Ted Cruz will watch Tuesday’s election returns from Pennsylvania and four other East Coast states in Knightstown, Indiana where he’s planned a rally.
Cruz, who has been campaigning across Indiana over the past few days, will be at the Hoosier Gym in the eastern Indiana community.
The event is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Information and registration is available at TedCruz.org.
Cruz is trying to secure enough votes to win at least some of Indiana’s 57 delegates when the state goes to the polls on May 3.
Polls show Donald Trump is leading with Cruz second and John Kasich third in the GOP contest in Indiana. But Kasich announced late Monday that he would stop campaigning in Indiana, an attempt to clear the way for Cruz.
Meanwhile, Cruz has said he’ll do the same for Kasich in Oregon and New Mexico.
The goal is to stop Trump from winning a majority of delegates before the Republican National Convention this summer—although he has a big lead in the delegate count and is expected to extend it in Tuesday's primaries. Trump has called Cruz and Kasich's coordination desperate.
Trump has scheduled a rally for Wednesday at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum at the state fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Information and tickets are available at DonaldJTrump.com.
